Three recently listed companies shared their initial public offering (IPO) experiences, fundraising achievements and future growth strategies at the 4th SECP Talk Series, highlighting growing investor interest in Pakistans capital markets.
Omar Saeed, Chief Executive Officer of Service Long March Tyres, said the companys IPO was 16.7 times oversubscribed, attracting bids worth PKR 85 billion from more than 35,000 investors. The strong response, he noted, demonstrated the potential of Pakistans capital market to mobilize significant investment for corporate growth.
Zaheer Baig, CEO of Sitara Petroleum Service, discussed the companys expansion plans following its listing. He highlighted the advantages of accessing growth capital through the capital market and emphasized the role of a public listing in supporting the companys future expansion.
Adnan Aftab, CEO of Select Technologies, shared details of the companys successful capital raise of PKR 3.02 billion. The IPO was 3.23 times oversubscribed, while the company opened trading at a 21.4% premium, reflecting strong market interest in the newly listed company.
Speaking at the event, SECP Commissioner Muzaffar Ahmed Mirza highlighted the regulators ambition to expand Pakistans investor base to 2.5 million investors. He stressed the importance of making capital markets more accessible and encouraging greater participation from individuals and businesses.
SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu outlined several initiatives aimed at broadening participation in the capital markets. These include easier digital onboarding, enhanced financial literacy and improved access to capital for businesses seeking to raise funds through the market.
The experiences shared by the three companies underscored the potential of IPOs as an important source of growth capital while also demonstrating the increasing appetite of investors for new investment opportunities.
