KARACHI: The NED University of Engineering and Technology held its 35th Convocation in Karachi, with Chancellor and Sindh Governor Syed Nehal Hashmi presiding over the ceremony. Provincial Minister for Boards and Universities Muhammad Ismail Rahoo attended the event as Pro-Chancellor.
Addressing the graduating students, Governor Hashmi congratulated the graduates, their parents and teachers, and said that success should not be regarded as an end but as the beginning of a responsible and purposeful journey.
He expressed confidence that the young graduates would play an important role in strengthening Pakistans economy, technological development and global standing through knowledge, research and innovation.
Acting Vice Chancellor Dr Nauman Ahmed said every graduate was an ambassador of NED University as well as Pakistan. He urged the graduates to serve the country with dedication and use their education and skills for national development.
According to university spokesperson Farwa Hassan, a total of 2,262 students graduated from the university, while 881 students were awarded masters degrees and 40 scholars received PhDs.
As many as 34 students were awarded gold medals for securing first positions in their respective programmes. More than 8,000 people, including graduates, parents, faculty members and guests, attended the convocation.
