KARACHI: A special Defence Day ceremony was organized at the Printing Press Museum in Karachi, bringing together students from various colleges who participated with enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.
The event aimed to promote patriotism, national awareness, self-confidence and a deeper appreciation among young people for the sacrifices made in the defence of Pakistan.
A range of activities was organized during the ceremony, including national songs, speeches and a speech competition. Students actively participated in the programme and demonstrated their communication skills, knowledge and confidence. Speeches were delivered in English, Urdu, Sindhi and Japanese, adding a distinctive educational and cultural dimension to the event and earning appreciation from the audience.
The ceremony was hosted by Kainat Baloch, Coordinator, Printing Press Museum, who welcomed the students, teachers, distinguished guests and other participants and smoothly conducted the various segments of the programme.
The event was presided over by Dr Kaleemullah Lashari, Chairman, Management Board for Antiquities and Physical Heritage, Sindh. The judging panel comprised Dr Muhammad Zameer Ali, Muhammad Babar and Dr Kaleemullah Lashari. The judges evaluated the students’ speeches, performances and overall participation in the competitions.
Speaking on the occasion, Ali Lashari, Assistant Director, delivered an encouraging address to the students. He urged young people to develop self-confidence, acquire knowledge and cultivate a strong sense of responsibility towards the country and society.
Faheem Qureshi, Controller, Printing Press Museum, introduced participants and guests to the museum and highlighted its historical significance, heritage collections and role in preserving and promoting the history and legacy of printing technology.
The event provided students with an opportunity not only to express their patriotic sentiments but also to strengthen their communication abilities, historical awareness and self-confidence. The enthusiastic participation of students and positive response from the audience reflected the success of the programme.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the results of the various competitions were announced. Trophies were presented to students who secured prominent positions, while certificates of participation were distributed among all participating students in recognition of their efforts, enthusiasm and contribution to the event.
The organizers emphasized that educational, cultural and heritage-focused programmes of this nature play an important role in the intellectual development of young people and help connect them with Pakistan’s history, heritage and national values. They expressed their commitment to organizing more such programmes in the future to keep the younger generation engaged, informed and connected with the country’s historical and cultural heritage.
