Karachi: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) hosted Mr. Zafar Masud, President and CEO of the Bank of Punjab, for an inspiring and interactive leadership session aimed at engaging students and future leaders through his remarkable personal and professional journey.
Mr. Masud, who was one of the two survivors of the tragic Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Flight 8303 crash in May 2020, shared reflections on his extraordinary experience of survival and recovery. He highlighted the importance of resilience, purposeful leadership, determination and the ability to overcome difficult challenges.
His personal story offered students a powerful perspective on facing adversity and rebuilding one’s life with courage, purpose and optimism.
During the session, Mr. Masud also discussed his book, Seat 1C: A Survivor’s Tale of Hope, Resilience and Renewal, which chronicles his experience and reflections following the aviation tragedy. Attendees purchased copies of the book and had them personally signed by the author, adding a memorable dimension to the engagement.
As part of his visit, Mr. Masud toured the DUHS Trauma Center and Comprehensive Cancer Care Unit. The visit provided him with an opportunity to gain insight into DUHS’s healthcare facilities and its commitment to excellence in medical education, patient care and healthcare services.
The engagement brought together important themes of leadership, healthcare, education, resilience and purpose, reflecting the university’s broader vision under #DUHSBeyondHealthcare.
