Karachi: The Consul General of Japan in Karachi, His Excellency Hattori Masaru, donated 110 books to Greenwich University under the Read Japan Project during an impressive ceremony held in Karachi.
The books were donated through an initiative of the Nippon Foundation and have been placed at the Japan Resource Center, a specially designated section within the Greenwich University library, to provide students and researchers with valuable resources on Japan.
Speaking at the book handover ceremony, Consul General Hattori Masaru stated that the primary objective of the Read Japan Project is to promote a deeper understanding of Japan across the world through literature. He encouraged students to explore the donated collection, which covers a wide range of subjects including Japans history, culture, politics, and sports, enabling them to gain broader knowledge and insight into the country.
The Consul General also highlighted the educational opportunities available in Japan and urged students to take advantage of scholarship programs for higher studies.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Naveed Mughal, Pro Vice Chancellor of Greenwich University, described Japan as an outstanding example of nation-building and development. He emphasized the importance of making full use of the donated collection and encouraged students to read the books to better understand Japans achievements and contributions in various fields.
The ceremony reflected the strong educational and cultural ties between Japan and Pakistan and underscored the importance of academic collaboration in fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.
