The long-running murder case involving journalist and anchor Mureed Abbas and another victim has reached a significant stage in the judicial process. An Additional District and Sessions Court in Karachi has reserved its verdict after the completion of arguments from both the prosecution and the defense, nearly seven years after the case began.

The court is expected to announce its judgment on 9 July. The principal accused, Atif Zaman, remains in judicial custody in connection with the case.

The upcoming verdict is anticipated as an important development in one of Pakistan’s most closely followed criminal cases involving the killing of a media professional.
