Karachi, March 13, 2025 Bar Associations across Sindh have announced a protest rally on March 14, 2025, at the Indus River to mark the International Day of Action for Rivers. The rally aims to raise awareness about environmental concerns and protest against the illegal extraction of six canals from the river.
In a statement issued by M. Rustam Bhutto, Acting Secretary of the Sindh Bar Council, legal professionals have been urged to actively participate in the demonstration. The call for protest follows an earlier resolution passed on March 8, 2025, reinforcing the legal communitys commitment to protecting water resources and ensuring environmental justice.
The event is expected to gather legal professionals from various districts, highlighting the crucial role of advocacy in addressing ecological issues. The protest aligns with the global movement to protect rivers and ensure their sustainable management.
