Karachi Records Decline in Major Street Crimes During June 2026, CPLC Statistics Show

KARACHI: Karachi witnessed a notable improvement in its law and order situation during June 2026, as official crime statistics revealed a decline across several major categories of street crime compared to May 2026.

According to the latest data, incidents of four-wheeler snatching dropped significantly from 20 cases in May to just 8 in June, while four-wheeler theft also decreased slightly from 106 to 101 cases.

Motorcycle-related crimes showed mixed trends. Two-wheeler snatching declined from 445 to 374 cases, indicating improved enforcement against violent vehicle theft. However, two-wheeler theft increased from 2,240 incidents in May to 2,419 in June, highlighting an area that continues to require greater attention from law enforcement agencies and policymakers.

Mobile phone snatching, one of the city’s most common street crimes, also recorded a decline, falling from 1,860 reported incidents in May to 1,689 in June.

Violent crime indicators showed encouraging improvements as well. Reported homicides decreased from 56 cases to 40, while extortion cases fell slightly from 10 to 9 during the same period.

The city also maintained a positive record in other serious crime categories. Kidnapping for ransom remained at zero cases for both May and June, while bank robberies dropped from one reported incident in May to none in June.

Security analysts attribute the overall decline in major crime categories to focused policing strategies, intelligence-led operations, and strengthened law enforcement efforts across Karachi. However, the rise in motorcycle theft suggests that additional preventive measures, improved parking security, and greater public awareness remain essential.

Authorities emphasize that sustaining these positive trends will require continued coordination between law enforcement agencies, policymakers, and the public to further enhance safety and security across the metropolitan city.
