A tragic incident in Karachis Orangi Town has claimed the life of a teenage student, raising serious concerns over school safety measures and delays in legal action.
According to reports, a student, identified as 15-year-old Kinza, passed away on Tuesday while under treatment at a private hospital. She had sustained critical injuries after falling from the fourth floor of her school building on April 21. Following the incident, the student was shifted to multiple hospitals where she remained under treatment for several days before succumbing to her injuries.
Initially, the school administration described the incident as an accident. However, the victims father has now expressed doubts over this claim and announced his intention to pursue legal action against the school authorities.
Police officials stated that further legal proceedings will be initiated once formal statements from the family are recorded. As of now, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, and no arrests have been made.
The funeral prayers and burial of the deceased have already been carried out, but demands for justice continue to grow. Local residents and civil society members have voiced deep concern over the lack of progress in the case, calling it a matter of public safety and institutional accountability.
Preliminary information suggests that the incident may have occurred due to serious violations of safety standard operating procedures (SOPs) within the school premises. Legal experts stress that, under such circumstances, the registration of an FIR and a transparent investigation are essential.
Social worker Faiz Khan from Orangi Town emphasized that justice delayed is justice denied, urging authorities to take immediate notice of the case. He called for an impartial investigation, strict legal action against those responsible, and the enforcement of safety protocols in educational institutions to prevent future tragedies.
