Karachi: Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, visited the Karachi Chambers of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) to review the ongoing relief and verification process for traders affected by the Gul Plaza incident.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Provincial Ministers Nasir Hussain Shah and Jam Ikram Dhrijo, Mayor of Karachi Murtaza Wahab, and other senior officials. KCCI President Hassan Naqvi and other top chamber officials were also present.
During the visit, CM Shah met with KCCI leaders including Zubair Motiwala and Javed Bilwani, to discuss the support measures for affected traders. A large number of Gul Plaza traders were present at the chamber to confirm their losses. Multiple counters were set up for traders to verify their claims regarding shop ownership, rental status, and inventory. The Chief Minister personally observed the verification process at these counters.
CM Shah highlighted that the Sindh government had already provided Rs 1 crore each to the families of 45 out of 62 victims and assured that relief cheques worth Rs 500,000 each would be distributed to 1,153 affected traders. He emphasized the governments commitment to the full rehabilitation of the traders, stating, I want the affected traders to be restored as quickly as possible. I will not rest until they are back on their feet.
The visit underscored the provincial governments determination to compensate the losses of traders and ensure rapid recovery for the business community affected by the Gul Plaza incident.
