In a heartfelt announcement that marks the end of an era in Pakistani broadcast journalism, seasoned television anchor and host Imran Hassan has officially declared his retirement from the TV industry after an illustrious career spanning 18 years.
Taking to social media, Hassan revealed that May 30, 2025, the date of his final television appearance, capping off nearly two decades of impactful journalism and versatile hosting across some of Pakistans most prominent news channels.
Imran Hassan began his career with PTV, anchoring the late-night news bulletins before becoming a household name with the widely acclaimed current affairs program “Dateline Pakistan” (20072013). He went on to host several other influential shows, including “Live @ 5” (20132015), “Barah-e-Raast” (20132016), “Economy in Focus” (20162018), and “Soorat-e-Haal” (20182020). His 13-year journey at PTV News was described as a time of growth, opportunity, and national service.

From 2020 to 2024, Imran brought his signature style to Express News, co-hosting the popular morning show “Expresso” from the Lahore station alongside Armala Hassan and Hina Adil. He also helmed major special transmissions, including Ramzan specials and PSL coverage, showcasing his versatility as a presenter.
In the final chapter of his on-screen journey, Hassan joined HUM News (20242025), calling it “one of the most incredible organizations one could desire to work with.” His latest endeavor, “Subh Se Aagey”, was described as a wild river rafting adventure demanding yet deeply rewarding, thanks to a dedicated and passionate team.
Reflecting on his retirement, Hassan expressed deep gratitude to every individual who contributed to his professional journey:
“God has accompanied me with the best professionals… Today my journey with the television industry comes to an end.”
In an emotional close, he added, quoting a poignant verse in Urdu:
“Kaise keh doon ke thak gaya hoon main, Jaane kis kis ka hosla hoon main…”
(How can I say Im tired, when I carry the hopes of so many?)
Though he is stepping away from the screen, Imran Hassan hinted at new beginnings, stating that retirement is not an end, but “the beginning of the open highway.”
