Press Freedom and Media Justice Take Center Stage at Iqra University Seminar

Karachi, May 3, 2025: On the eve of World Press Freedom Day, Iqra Universitys Main Auditorium at the EDC Campus became a hub of insightful discourse as it hosted a powerful seminar titled Media Justice, held in collaboration with the Karachi Editors Club (KEC) to mark the organizations 8th anniversary.

The seminar brought together a distinguished panel of legal experts, media professionals, and academics who addressed a wide range of critical topics impacting journalism today. Themes included the relationship between media and judiciary, media ethics and law, the rise of fake news, the growing influence of digital media, and the role of the press in conflict zones.

Senior journalists such as Imtiaz Khan Faran, Syed Khalid Mahmood, Munawwar Mirza and Syeda Hoor Shumail also shared their professional insights. The discussion was skillfully moderated by Sana Hashmi, a prominent TV anchor.

Other key participants included Ms. Irum Tanveer, Director General, Press Information Department Karachi; Manzar Naqvi,Iqbal Jamil, Muhammad Nazakat Ali, Naveed Arshad and scholars Dr. Samreen Bari Aamir and Dr. Sidra Ahmed.

The event was organized under the leadership of Mr. Mubashir Mir, President of the Karachi Editors Club, who was widely appreciated for his role in curating such an essential dialogue on press freedom and justice in media.
