KARACHI: The Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) has assured representatives of print and electronic media that it will raise key issues confronting the construction and development sector with relevant government departments and institutions to facilitate their early resolution.
The assurance was given during a meeting between ABAD office-bearers and media representatives held at ABAD House in Karachi. The meeting focused on challenges faced by builders, developers, homebuyers and the general public, particularly those relating to the timely completion and possession of residential and commercial projects.
The meeting was attended by outgoing ABAD Chairman Bakhshi, newly elected Chairman Hanif Gohar, former Chairman Mohsin Sheikhani, Owais Thanvi and other office-bearers of the association.
During the discussion, journalists and representatives of print and electronic media highlighted several public and industry-related concerns affecting Karachi’s construction and development sector.
Key issues discussed included challenges associated with high-rise buildings, road infrastructure and residential and commercial projects that are ready for possession but remain delayed due to the non-availability or pending provision of essential utility services.
The participants emphasized the difficulties faced by homebuyers and other members of the public when completed buildings cannot be handed over on time because of unresolved infrastructure and utility-related issues.
Newly elected ABAD Chairman Hanif Gohar assured the media that the association would take up these concerns with the relevant government departments and institutions and make concerted efforts to secure their early resolution.
He said ABAD would continue working closely with all stakeholders to address the genuine problems of builders, developers, homebuyers and the public. He also stressed the need for a more effective and coordinated approach to resolving issues affecting the construction sector.
The meeting provided an opportunity for an open exchange of views between ABAD representatives and the media on matters of public interest, urban infrastructure and Karachi’s future development.
The interaction underscored the importance of coordination among industry representatives, government institutions and the media in addressing the challenges facing the city’s construction and development sector.
