KARACHI: The Japanese Film Festival 2026 opened in Karachi with a memorable screening of the acclaimed animated film Children of the Sea at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi on Friday, September 4, 2026.
The opening screening was organised in collaboration with the Japan Foundation and the Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association, Sindh (PJCA), bringing together students, anime enthusiasts, film lovers and members of the cultural community.
Consul General of Japan HATTORI presided over the event, which highlighted the enduring cultural ties and people-to-people connections between Japan and Pakistan.
Children of the Sea took audiences on a visually striking journey into the mysteries of the ocean, human connection and humanity’s relationship with the natural world. Through its expansive animation and thought-provoking themes, the film encouraged viewers to look beyond the familiar and reflect on the vast and interconnected world around them.
