ICMA and SPDC Sign MoU to Promote Evidence-Based Policymaking in Pakistan

Karachi, May 7, 2026: Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA) and Social Policy Development Centre (SPDC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration in policy research and promoting evidence-based policymaking in Pakistan.

The agreement establishes a structured framework for long-term cooperation between the two institutions to jointly conduct research, generate policy insights, and support national development priorities through analytical and data-driven initiatives.

The MoU was signed by Azeem Hussain Siddiqui and Muhammad Asif Iqbal during a ceremony attended by senior representatives from both organizations.

Among those present at the event were Muhammad Sabir, Aamir Ijaz Khan, Shahid Anwar, and Farough Ali Naweed.

The ceremony was graced by Zafar Masud as the chief guest. He also delivered a keynote address under ICMAs Thought Leadership Lecture Series titled The Second Act: Redefining Purpose after Trauma.

Under the partnership, ICMA and SPDC will collaborate on joint research initiatives focusing on key policy areas including macro-fiscal policy, taxation, governance reforms, public financial management, macroeconomic stability, trade and industrial competitiveness, as well as social development issues such as poverty, employment, inequality, and public service delivery.

The collaboration will further include joint seminars, policy dialogues, research publications, and engagement with development partners to support effective and evidence-based policy interventions. The findings of these research initiatives will be disseminated among policymakers and relevant stakeholders to enhance policy relevance and national impact.

Officials from both institutions stated that the MoU reflects their shared commitment to strengthening research-driven policymaking and contributing to Pakistans long-term economic and social development.
