Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Karachi Central, Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan, has suspended five police officials over their alleged involvement in the torture of a young man at Sharifabad Police Station in District Central, West Zone.
Taking strict notice of the incident, the SSP ordered the immediate suspension and closure of the officers concerned. The SDPO of Liaquatabad was directed to conduct a transparent and impartial inquiry into the matter.
According to the initial report, four personnel of the Shaheen Force along with a sentry posted at Sharifabad Police Station were found allegedly involved in the incident. All five officials have been suspended with immediate effect, while further departmental proceedings are currently underway.
Authorities stated that once the inquiry report is finalized, additional action will be taken against those found responsible.
SSP Dr. Muhammad Imran Khan emphasized that unlawful and unethical behavior towards citizens will not be tolerated under any circumstances, warning that strict and indiscriminate action will be taken against anyone found violating the law.
