Karachi: A total of 501 students were awarded degrees in various disciplines at the 17th Convocation of Greenwich University, held at the Governor House, Karachi. The graduating cohort comprised 362 undergraduate students, 82 graduates, and 57 postgraduates, marking another milestone in the Universitys academic journey.
In recognition of outstanding academic performance, gold medals were awarded to 35 students. The convocation was held under the theme Fasal-e-Gul, symbolizing renewal and growth, with the aim of fostering optimism and rejuvenating a positive image of Pakistan among the youth.
During the ceremony, honorary degrees (Honoris Causa) were conferred upon prominent national figures in recognition of their exceptional contributions to their respective fields. The recipients included Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, owner of Brookes Pharma; Senator Sarmad Ali, President of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) and Managing Director of the Jang & Geo Group; Jerjees Seja, CEO of ARY Digital Network; and Zafar Masud, CEO of the Bank of Punjab. On the occasion, gold medals were also presented to the Consul Generals of various countries.
The Sindh Governor, Kamran Khan Tessori, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Congratulating the graduates, he stated that the nation looks towards its youth for future progress and development. He commended Greenwich University for its role in promoting academic excellence, nurturing leadership qualities, and equipping students to meet the challenges of the modern world.
Addressing the convocation, the Chancellor of Greenwich University, Dr. Seema Mughal, said that for four decades the University has remained steadfast in its commitment to education by continuously evolving and adapting to changing times. She highlighted the institutions extensive work in sustainable development across social, economic, and environmental domains at national, regional, and global levels.
Dr. Seema Mughal further emphasized the crucial role of parents in the success of graduates, noting that behind every student are years of patience, sacrifice, prayers, and unconditional support. She said this collective effort plays a fundamental role in shaping the achievements of the younger generation.
The ceremony concluded on a note of pride and optimism, celebrating academic achievement and reaffirming Greenwich Universitys commitment to contributing positively to society and the nations future.
