Karachi Traffic Police have launched an aggressive and ongoing crackdown against dilapidated, unregistered, and illegally modified vehicles under the leadership of DIG Traffic Karachi.
Checkpoints have been set up at multiple locations across the city where strict action is being taken against heavy and light transport vehicles, motorcyclists, and illegally modified vehicles. Violations including fancy number plates, tinted windows, faulty or altered gas cylinders, rickshaws with unauthorized additional seating, and motorcyclists riding without helmets are being targeted.
As part of this campaign:

41,651 motorcycles have been taken into custody.

3,714 cases have been registered for violations such as tinted windows and fancy number plates.

659 vehicles (both heavy and light) are currently impounded.

25 vehicles have been recommended for registration cancellation.

645 unfit vehicles have been released conditionally, pending compliance.
Authorities have made it clear that motorcycles will only be returned to individuals who present a valid driving license and helmet. Vehicles deemed dangerous or unfit will be returned only after clearance from the Motor Vehicle Examiner of the Transport Department.
In line with directives from the Commissioner of Karachi, a strict ban on rickshaws with illegal additional seating has been enforced from April 15 to June 14, 2025. During this period, the Traffic Police have:
