The announcement came during his visit to the NADRA Headquarters, where he met with NADRA Chairman, Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afzal. The two officials discussed steps toward implementing a unified MR number system within the countrys healthcare sector.

Minister Kamal highlighted a major gap in Pakistans health system the lack of a centralized and comprehensive database of patients medical history. To address this, he said, the government has decided to use the CNIC number as the unique MR number for every individual.

This initiative will ensure that a patients complete medical record is available online, anytime and anywhere in the country, said Kamal. This will not only make treatment more efficient but also ensure accuracy in diagnosis and care.

He added that the new system will benefit patients, streamline healthcare delivery, and improve transparency and data management within the health sector.
