Misbehavior of the KBA president: SHC issues show cause notice

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued show cause notice to Karachi Bar Association (KBA) president and other office-bearers in an application of District and Sessions Judge (West) against alleged misbehavior of the Karachi Bar Association president and others.

The chief Justice of SHC has also issued notice to the advocate general and prosecutor general of Sindh. District and Sessions Judge (West) Shahnawaz Tariq sent application to the chief justice of the Sindh High Court against Mr Qureshi and others.
In application it was submitted that KBA president Naeem Qureshi and members of his association visit the courts, misbehave with judges and their staff. He submitted that it had become difficult for them to properly perform their duties under such circumstances.
Chief Justice issued show cause notice to KBA president Naeem Qureshi and other members of the lawyer body to explain why their licenses may not be suspended in terms of subsection 1 of section 54 of Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Act 1971.
The court also appointed Sindh High Court Bar Association president and other senior lawyers as amicus curie to assist court in the matter. (FP)
