Karachi May 6, 2025: The result of the Senate by-election for a vacant seat from Sindh has been officially announced. According to Sindh Election Commissioner Ejaz Anwar Chohan, Waqar Mehdi of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has secured victory.
Mehdi won the seat with a total of 111 votes, defeating his main rival, Nighat Mirza of MQM-Pakistan, who received 36 votes.
The Election Commissioner also revealed that two votes were rejected due to incorrect marking on the ballot papers.
The election outcome reinforces PPPs strong political foothold in Sindh and adds another seat to its representation in the Senate.
