KARACHI Mohammed Akbar Ali Khan, the newly-elected President of the Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA) and Chancellor of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), has vowed to revive the past credibility and prestige of the organization while focusing on its cherished objectives.

Chairing his first meeting after assuming office, Akbar Ali Khan termed his election a momentous occasion and reaffirmed his commitment to leading AMUOBA in accordance with its rich history and traditions.

Our mission is not only to restore its past credibility but also to introduce innovative ideas for its future role, he stated.

Educational Reforms on the Agenda

Emphasizing the need for educational advancements, Akbar Ali Khan underscored his commitment to bringing necessary reforms in the curriculum to meet modern educational challenges. He stressed the importance of integrating technology into teaching methods and enhancing research activities through international collaboration.

I pledge to adopt contemporary teaching techniques, incorporating modern technology to cultivate the creative potential of our youth, with a primary focus on research, he declared.

Leaderships Commitment to Change

The time has come to move forward with new determination and implement positive changes through mutual cooperation, he asserted.

Echoing similar sentiments, Erum Akbar credited teamwork for their electoral success and emphasized the need for strategic planning. She also recalled past injustices within AMUOBA but assured that future decisions would be made on merit and performance alone.

No injustice will be tolerated. All decisions will be taken purely on the basis of merit, she remarked firmly.

Vision for the Future

Former AMUOBA President and Chancellor of SSUET, Engr Adil Usman, expressed hope that associate institutions would now be managed more effectively and that the vision of late Zakir Ali Khan would be carried forward.

Noted Aligarhian and poet Tariq Sabzwari lamented that the true culture and traditions of Aligarh had been eroded over the past decade due to self-serving agendas. However, he expressed optimism that with time and effort, past mismanagement could be rectified.

New Era of AMUOBA and SSUET

AMUOBA members actively shared their insights and suggestions for short-term and long-term strategies aimed at strengthening ties between academia and industry. Many highlighted the importance of incorporating modern technologies with real-world applications.

Some members were surprised to learn about their membership status, pointing to the need for improved communication within the association.

The presence of key figures, including Farrukh Nizami, son of SSUETs founder and first Chancellor Engr Z.A. Nizami, and former Chancellor Engr Adil Usman, added weight to the discussions.

With the dawn of a new era for AMUOBA and SSUET, the leadership now faces the challenge of translating their vision into tangible progress, ensuring that the legacy of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan continues to inspire future generations.
