Mrs. Aquila Ismail is a distinguished electrical engineer and academician with a career spanning over four decades. She completed her Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical from the NED University of Engineering & Technology in 1975. She is a registered member of the Pakistan Engineering Council, the Institute of Engineers Pakistan (IEP), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of Pakistan (IEEEP).
Mrs. Ismail began her professional journey as an Executive Engineer at Glaxo Laboratories (Pakistan) Limited. In 1980, driven by her passion for education, she transitioned to academia and joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at NED University as a lecturer. Her academic career at NED was marked by consistent progression she served as Assistant Professor (19801997), Professor (19972000), and ultimately as Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering. In addition to teaching, she actively mentored final-year students as a Project Advisor and contributed to curriculum development as Chairperson and member of the Board of Studies.

Throughout her tenure, she played a pivotal role in university governance. She was a member of the Board of Faculty, a two-term member of the Syndicate (19871990, 19931996), and a three-term member of the University Senate (19871996), the highest decision-making body of the institution.
Since 2000, Mrs. Ismail has been associated with the Orangi Pilot Project (OPP), a pioneering initiative in urban development. She served as Chairperson of the Research and Training Institute (RTI) for over a decade. Since the incorporation of the Orangi Pilot Research and Community Training (OPRCT) Company in 2017, she has been serving as its Vice Chairperson and actively contributes as a non-executive director.
