Karachi: Greenwich University and ARY Digital Network have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting the growth of media education in Pakistan and strengthening cooperation between academia and the media industry.
The MoU was formally inked by the Vice Chancellor of Greenwich University, Dr. Seema Mughal, and the President & CEO of ARY Digital Network and ARY Group, Salman Iqbal, during a ceremony held at the universitys campus in Karachi.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will establish a pioneering academicindustry partnership to launch Pakistans first co-branded media studies institution. The initiative seeks to set a new benchmark for media education by combining academic rigor with real-world professional exposure.
As part of the collaboration, the partners will set up the ARY School of Media Studies within the premises of Greenwich University. The school will offer undergraduate and graduate programs developed jointly to ensure that the curriculum remains aligned with evolving industry standards and demands.
A major highlight of the MoU is the introduction of an exclusive traineeship program designed and implemented by ARY Digital Network. The program will offer students hands-on training opportunities across three consecutive summer terms. Each year, at least 15 students will be selected, providing them with practical experience at one of the countrys leading media networks.
The agreement preserves academic independence for Greenwich University, allowing it to engage with other media organizations for initiatives beyond the scope of the ARY School of Media Studies.
To facilitate smooth execution, a joint coordination committee will be constituted to supervise planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities under the MoU.
The collaboration represents a significant move toward narrowing the gap between media education and industry practice in Pakistan, opening new avenues for student learning, professional growth, and career development.
