KARACHI: In line with emerging global trends in the creative economy, Pakistan has taken a significant step to integrate arts, culture, and media into its comprehensive vision for national development. Under the leadership of Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal, the Ministry of Planning has launched a nationwide initiative titled Uraan Pakistan Dialogue.
The initiative aims to position the countrys creative industries as a formal and effective partner in the development process. The first session, held in Karachi, brought together renowned filmmakers, directors, actors, and artists for an in-depth discussion with the minister.
Speaking at the event, Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the need for Pakistan to harness the creative potential of its youth, cultural heritage, and artistic talent to strengthen the countrys global identity. Just as India, Turkey, and other nations have successfully used film, drama, and arts as tools of soft power, Pakistan can also effectively project a positive narrative to the world through storytelling, he said.

The Uraan Pakistan Dialogue is envisioned as a strategic platform to empower creative industries, paving the way for a stronger economy and a globally respected cultural identity.
