Ride-hailing platform Careem has announced that it will cease all operations in Pakistan effective 18th July 2025, marking the end of an era for one of the country’s most popular transportation services.
In an official statement, Careem shared that the decision was not made lightly, expressing deep gratitude to its Pakistani users for their support over the years. Were deeply thankful for every booking you made with us, from everyday errands to big life moments, the message read. Youve been at the heart of our journey.
The company also assured users with remaining balances in their Careem Wallet that they will soon receive clear instructions on how to reclaim their funds.

To facilitate a smooth exit, Careem Care services will remain active until 18th September 2025, enabling users to resolve any outstanding issues or inquiries.
Careem, which was acquired by Uber in 2020, has played a transformative role in Pakistans urban mobility landscape, offering ride-hailing, food delivery, and digital payment solutions across multiple cities.
The announcement has been met with a wave of nostalgia and disappointment from loyal users who have come to rely on Careem for their daily commuting needs. The reasons behind the shutdown have not yet been officially disclosed.
