Karachi, February 11, 2026: The Sindh Bar Council (SBC) has issued a detailed code of conduct for candidates, voters and members for the upcoming Karachi Bar Association (KBA) annual elections 2026, aiming to ensure a peaceful, transparent and disciplined polling process.
According to a circular released after an emergent meeting of the Executive Committee of the Sindh Bar Council and the Election Commission, strict rules will be enforced within the court premises on the polling day.
The council has made it mandatory for every voter to bring the original Sindh Bar Council identity card or Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) for casting a vote. Photocopies or duplicates will not be accepted, and no one will be allowed to vote without original identification.
Voters will be required to leave the polling booth immediately after casting their vote. Taking photographs of the ballot paper, either before or after voting, has been strictly prohibited.
The circular also bars entry of non-advocates, law students, or individuals under intimation into the City Court premises for the purpose of canvassing on election day, warning that legal action will be taken against violators.
Candidates and their supporters have been directed not to display banners, posters, flexes or fixtures within the court buildings. All such material must be removed before polling day, failing which the Election Commission will initiate action against the concerned candidate.
Only authorized polling agents of candidates will be allowed inside the polling booth, apart from voters casting their ballots. Campaigning, canvassing or solicitation in corridors, passages and within the court premises will remain banned.
The SBC has further prohibited gatherings in corridors, staircases or areas leading to the polling booth except for voting purposes.
In a stern warning, the council stated that any act of arm-firing, display of weapons, fighting, hooliganism, intimidation or unlawful activity in or around the court premises will be treated as a serious violation. Such actions may lead to disciplinary and legal proceedings, including disqualification or cancellation of candidature, and referral to law-enforcement agencies.
All candidates, voters and members have been urged to cooperate with the Election Commission to maintain fairness, impartiality and order during the elections.
