Karachi, February 27: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah attended the annual dinner of United Memon Jamaat Pakistan, where he acknowledged the communitys exceptional contributions to social welfare. He paid tribute to the philanthropists of the Memon community, recognizing their selfless efforts in saving countless lives.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event held in a local hotel, the Chief Minister assured full support from the Sindh government in constructing an Old Age Home in collaboration with the Memon Jamaat.
During his address, Murad Ali Shah praised the Memon community for their dedication to social services, emphasizing that their humanitarian work is recognized worldwide. He also paid homage to notable philanthropists such as the late Abdullah Haroon, Abdul Sattar Edhi, Ramzan Chhipa, and the founders of Saylani Welfare Trust for their extraordinary contributions to society.
Highlighting the communitys efforts during natural disasters and crises, Shah commended the United Memon Jamaat Pakistan for their relief work across Sindh. He specifically acknowledged the efforts of the organizations leader, Aziz Memon, who has significantly contributed beyond his community, particularly in Rotary International and the Polio Eradication Campaign. The Chief Minister also lauded the Memon communitys contributions in the fields of education, healthcare, employment, and provision of clean drinking water in rural Sindh.
Expressing his appreciation for the Memon Jamaats upcoming initiatives, including the distribution of ration among the needy during Ramadan and the establishment of an Old Age Home, Shah reaffirmed the Sindh governments commitment to fully supporting these welfare projects.
He also highlighted various government initiatives for senior citizens, mentioning that the Sindh government has already established Old Age Homes in multiple districts. Additionally, through the Social Welfare Department, the government has launched a Senior Citizen Card Program aimed at providing elderly individuals with essential facilities and services.
Earlier in the event, United Memon Jamaat Pakistans leader, Aziz Memon, elaborated on the organizations welfare projects. He also shared the historical connection between his family and the Chief Ministers late father, Syed Abdullah Shah, as well as his long-standing association with the Pakistan Peoples Party, spanning three generations.
The event concluded with mutual appreciation and commitments to furthering the cause of social welfare in Sindh.
