To provide relief to low-income citizens and encourage unregistered individuals to come under the national database, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced new enhancements to non-chip Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs).
These upgraded non-chip CNICs will now display names and parentage in both Urdu and English, making them more accessible for use in formal and international settings. Additionally, a QR code feature has been added to improve verification and authentication capabilities.

One of the key improvements includes a reduction in the card processing and delivery time, which has been shortened from 30 days to just 15 days. Despite these upgrades, the card fee remains unchanged.
Importantly, the card will continue to be issued free of charge to first-time applicants, ensuring that citizens from all backgrounds have access to official identification without financial burden.
NADRA’s move is being seen as a step toward digital inclusivity and national integration, aiming to streamline the registration process while enhancing security and convenience for millions across the country.
