To strengthen institutional coordination and combat rising financial crimes, Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Mr. Rafat Mukhtar, chaired a high-level meeting with the Pakistan Banks Association (PBA) at the National Bank of Pakistan head office in Karachi.
Senior executives and top officials from all major national and commercial banks participated in the session, which focused on fostering collaborative efforts to address financial crimes, cyber threats, and regulatory compliance challenges facing the banking sector.
During the meeting, banking representatives shared their concerns, operational challenges, and practical recommendations. A detailed discussion took place on improving response mechanisms regarding banking frauds, financial irregularities, and legal assistance.

DG FIA Rafat Mukhtar assured the participants of the FIA’s full institutional cooperation in addressing these issues. He emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination between law enforcement agencies and the banking sector to build a more secure financial ecosystem.
The participants also discussed joint action plans and potential collaborative initiatives on matters of mutual interest. It was agreed that a follow-up review meeting would be held in the first week of October to assess progress and further institutionalize cooperation.
According to the FIA spokesperson, this meeting marks a proactive step toward building a robust framework for financial security and effective enforcement in Pakistans banking industry.
