KARACHI: First Lady of Pakistan Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, accompanied by Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, visited the Sindh Institute of Child Health and Neonatologys (SICHN) Mother and Childcare Hospitals in Azam Basti and Korangi.
At the Azam Basti facility, the delegation was received by Saeed Ghani, President PPP Karachi Division and Sindh Local Government Minister. The officials toured various departments, interacted with medical staff, and met with families of patients to learn about their experiences.
Praising the dedication of healthcare workers and the Sindh governments efforts to improve maternal and child health in underserved communities, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari lauded the provision of free treatment for newborns, infants, and children at SICHN facilities.
The commitment observed here today signifies a hopeful outlook for the well-being of our nations children and mothers, the First Lady remarked.
She highlighted the importance of expanding specialized neonatal and pediatric care, noting that SICHN is steadily growing its network to ensure equitable, accessible, and quality healthcare for vulnerable populations.
Currently, SICHN operates four centers in Karachi, Azam Basti, Korangi, JPMC, and Sobhraj, with additional facilities in Sukkur, Nawabshah, and Larkana. The visit reaffirmed the governments focus on providing free and quality care to mothers and children across Sindh.
