KARACHI, August 4, 2025: The Office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) South Zone Karachi has issued an official order to constitute a special committee tasked with reviewing the progress of the investigation and prosecution in the high-profile murder case of Advocate Khawaja Shams-ul-Islam.
The case, registered under FIR No. 593/2025 at Darakshan Police Station under sections 302, 324, 109, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, pertains to the assassination of the senior advocate on August 1, 2024.
According to the notification (No. DIGP/SZ/ZIB/25-1610, dated 04-08-2025), the committee will comprise prominent office bearers from the Sindh High Court Bar Association and senior officers from the Sindh Police and Prosecution Department. This joint effort aims to ensure transparency and expedite justice in the sensitive case.

DIGP Syed Asad Raza, who signed the order, has emphasized the importance of collaborative oversight in such a high-stakes case, assuring the public that every effort is being made to bring those responsible to justice.
Copies of the order have also been forwarded to senior law enforcement and legal officials, including the Additional IGP Karachi Range, the Prosecutor General Sindh, and other key personnel involved in the case for necessary action.
The formation of this committee comes amid growing concern among legal circles and civil society over attacks on members of the legal community, with calls for stricter security and swift justice.
