KARACHI: To provide relief to citizens during the holy month of Ramadan, the Commissioner Karachi has established special counters at various supermarkets in North Nazimabad, Gulberg, and New Karachi, where essential commodities are being sold at government-notified rates.
According to officials, the initiative aims to ensure the availability of daily-use items at controlled prices and to prevent profiteering during Ramadan, when demand for food items significantly increases. The counters are offering essential commodities, including flour, sugar, rice, pulses, cooking oil, and other grocery items, at officially fixed rates.
The administration stated that price control teams are actively monitoring the counters to ensure compliance with government pricing policies. Citizens have been encouraged to take advantage of the facility and report any overcharging or irregularities to the concerned authorities.
The establishment of these Ramadan relief counters is part of the city administrations broader efforts to provide maximum relief to residents and maintain price stability during the sacred month.
